Tapa Cloths Design

As we are learning about art this term, class one and five got the chance to create a Tapa cloth design, to those that don't know what a Tapa is here is a link/ Tapa designs  . A Tapa design is bark cloths made in the island of the pacific ocean.

What you will need to make a Tapa design brown or white paper, red die, crayons and that's about it. The first thing that you need to do is draw your design on the paper, if you don't have any design ideas you can get some inspiration from the internet.

Anyways after you have finished drawing your pattern on the brown or white pieces of paper, you now need to colour it with your crayons, it is best to use brown, black and yellow crayons. Now that you have colored your Tapa designs. It is time to die it,when you die it just use the Technic that you use when you are painting, when you have finished wait a few minutes for your die to dry and there you go you made yourself a Tapa design.

Tangle Pattern

“Today we are going to be creating a tangle pattern” Miss Paget said to the class.Whats a tangle pattern you may ask, well a tangle pattern is a Maori weaving. Here is link to show you /tangle pattern

The first thing we had to do to create the tangle pattern is to, think of a pattern,It was hard thinking of a pattern so I got some help from the internet. About five minuets later an idea pop from my mind, and started putting my idea onto a piece of paper.

After we finished drawing our pattern we had to pick 3 or less colors to color in our tangle. Puawai and I didn't no that we had to use 3 colors so we used about 7 or 8 colors. It took some time coloring my pattern but I got there in the end.

Overall I enjoyed making the tangle pattern, and I cant wait to see how many pieces of art we are going to be creating this term.

Cross Country

‘‘ Up next is the year seven girls”I hear Mr Jacobson say. I was so pumped...well that was before my toes reached the starting line, my hands started to shake, my heart beat started to get faster and faster .

‘‘On your marks’’ I breathe in from my nose and out  through my mouth ‘‘Get set”    “ GO”!  Mr Burt claps the woods together, so i start running and suddenly my confidence grew. I began to run fast.

As I ran I heard people cheering, they pushed me to try harder. When I was running I went pass three people. I was so tired but I keept on going trying my best no mater what. By the time I was at the finish-line I was so tired.

Overall I am so proud of myself and I still cant believe that I ran 3K and came 1st place out of all of the year 7 girls at Point England school.

Echolocation Writing

lots of animals use echolocation like bats, whales, and dolphins use echolocation in many deterrent ways. all theses animals use echolocation to find food, they also use it to locate far away objects.

Most species of bats use echolocation to help them find food. This is why it is no problem at all for them to be able to find food in the dark . did you know? that The calls from the bat can reach up to 130 decibels.

The sounds made by animals are sent out into the environment to bounce off of nearby objects and return information about the nearby objects by measuring the amount of time it takes for the sound waves to return.
I hope and wish that you learnt more about ECHOLOCATION and I hope you enjoyed my writing. please live me some feed back on my blog .

Facts About Sound

Sound is a type of energy made by vibrations.Sound is all around us, all the time.Every where you go you can still hear sound like the singing bird or the wind blowing into the trees or even the cars going past.

Sound and waves come from vibrations the cool thing about that is how your ears give you the ability to hear them soft or loud.Did you know that the speed of sound is 767 miles per hour (1,230 kilometres per hour).

When there is no sound, the tiny particles of air are spread evenly. A sound travels in high pressers, where the particles are closer together, with regions of low pressure, where they are far apart.

The Search Goes On

After a 12 hour search the pilot described it as being unsuccessful because there was no information coming from the black box. They were a little unsure whether the shiny shapes that they had seen were debris from the  plane or marine mammals. It’s disappointing for the families because they still have no real answers about the disappearing flight MH370. Screen Shot 2014-03-25 at 10.06.33 PM.png

Empathy Writing

What is empathy ? empathy has many different definitions that encompass a broad range of emotional states, such as caring for others. Empathy is also the ability to understand and share the feeling of another. To put yourself in there shoes.

To show empathy people need to respect another for example you're talking to someone and suddenly he or she starts talking don't fidget or do other things listen to them and respect what they're saying. Remember we can also show empathy through a simple sign.

It is important to show empathy because people will know that you care about them It is very important to show empathy because if you show empathy then you're a good person you care about others and your respectful. If everybody in the word empathetic every community would be very helpful and kind.

Remember to show empathy wherever you are and what every you doing because if you show empathy people will know that you care about them.

Kevine the first day of school

In the morning I was feeling very excited because It was the first day of school so I jumped out of bed and zoomed to the bathroom and quickly got ready. When I got ready I told my brother to hurry up. So off we went walking down the street to school.

When my brother and I got there we saw my friends then I started to get worried because I didn't know if I was going to be in the same class as my friends I was very nervous. A few minutes later the bell rang so we all went to the hall to see what class we were going to be in. But because we weren't little kids any longer the new year 7 and 8 had to go the 7 and 8 class and that's where we got put into class .

kids standing up going to there new class with their new teachers I was very very sacred my mind was thinking a lot then it came to the fact I heard Mrs Nua say Kevine please stand. I didn't know whose name there were going to call out next is it going to be one my friends I was think and listening very carefully.

Sadly it wasn't so I went to line up with all of the other students. seconds later I saw my friend D.j coming towards me. I didn't know what she was doing  so I said what are you doing here she said happily I'm in this class. To be contuned
