Google Cardboard

Yesterday afternoon the year 7 and 8 students at point England school got the opportunity to test out the Google cardboard glasses. The Google cardboard glasses help you experiment how its like in a different place as if your actually there, cool right? . Click here to find out more 

 I felt like I was all-round the word. I went swimming with the sharks and fishes in the deep blue sea. I was sky diving on one of the tallest towers in the word. I went to the forest and found loads of animals that used camouflage. If only I was actually there,  it was amazing and was a really good experiment. I would love to do it again.

The talk from Andrew Patterson

Do you know Andrew Patterson? well the year eights at Point England school got the opportunity to have a inspirational talk with him. One of the things we talked about was our brain, how we can make our brain grow ? well  our brain is kind of like a muscles , you have to work and learn things so that your brain can grow. I learnt a lot of things today and it was so much fun.

 

Touch Tournament

“ Quick play” quick play” I heard Tyson (Tyson our coach )shouting on the sideline. It was our first game at the Tamaki cluster touch tournament at Dunkirk . Playing against Tamaki Primary B wasn't so hard we won 4 - 0 to us.

After our break we played Stone field. They were also easy we won 6 - 0 to us. “Were undefeatable” said Taunese “ hahaha don't get too cocky” I replied.

Feeling satisfaction as the results of last game was amazing,Tyson kept on saying “ don't get too proud, the next game is going to be even harder”

He was right it was a lot harder then the other games. We had to play the ball even faster and get back 5 meters quicker.Huffing and puffing after my try I was so puffed out, I needed water, at that time I could of probably drunk a whole swimming pool. “PRRIINNGGG!” the hooter for full time rang.

Our next game was against Glen Taylor School. Glen Taylor was probably the hardest team we played. They had some fast boys and girls. Although it was a tough game we still won  2 -0 and were going into the finals.

We practised for a while, but soon later it was time for the year seven and eight mixed team. I was so tired so I asked if I could go on sub. “ Go Taunese!” I yelled as she was getting a runaway.

We played our very best and won 4 - 0. I was so so joyful at that stage. I can’t believe that we came 1st out of all the schools in the Tamiki cluster.

The Day I lost my Hairbrush

“ Mum do you no where's my hairbrush!? ” I yelled across the room “no” she yelled back. I was so worried, it was class photos and I couldn't find my hairbrush. Searching under the bed, in my room, in the bathroom and in the toilet I couldn't find it any where.

10-15 minutes went by. By then I felt so stressed my heart started to beat really really fast BoomBoom!!, “ Your going look like a clown” “ You're going look like a clown” That was all that my mind was telling me, I didn't know where to look next.

Breath in breath out, I was trying my best to stay calm.Boom..... Boom... Boom my heart started to beat slower and slower. Sitting in my room I heard  a few knocks, Knock Knock  “come in ”I said, it was my sister Joelle “guess what she said with excitement “ what ” I replied back “ I found your hai........” she said “ found what found what ” I said hoping it was my hair brush “ YOUR HAIR BRUSH!!” she yelled, I was so so happy “thank you so so much Jojo”( Jojo is her nickname) I said to her.

I quickly got ready and rushed to school. after a while it was time for my class to go and take our photo. “say cheese” the photographer said “CHEESE!” my whole class yelled !!. A beam of light flashed into my eyes, The photo was done it turned out great I was worried for nothing.

Immersion Assembly

It was the first day of term 4 and I was really looking forward to going back to school, I was so excited. When I arrived at school my mind wondering what our topic was going to be. SURVIVOR!!! I was so joyful when I found out our topic for this term.

Suddenly the bell rag, I ran to the street to get ready for Immersion assembly. Outwit,out smart and adaptation are some of the main things we are learning about. What does adapt mean? adapt means to change in way so that you can survive.

“Now it's time for Team 1 ” Mr Burt said at Immersion assembly. Team 1 performance/item was about zoo animals that adapt. They are so luck because later on this term they are going to the zoo, to find out more about the animals.There are a lot of animals that adap like camels, they adapt or change so that they can survive.

After a while it was time for team 5. I was so excited because I am team 5. Team 5 performance was about the people that live extreme environment  and still learn how to survive. I reckon this term is going to be awesome, I can't wait.

How to create a Personal Logo

For the past few weeks in literacy we have been learning how to create a personal logo. If you would want to learn how to create a personal logo, if you would like to learn how to create your own logo click play.

Designing A Personal Logo

      

Designing a logo has many steps, one of the first steps is to research.  See what good logos have and what they don't have. Remember A personal logo design is something that represents you. `

How and why it starts? It starts of by brainstorming.Brainstorming will make a personal logo a lot lot better,remember pick words and symbols that reflect on who you are as person that will make your logo more unique.

The next step was to create 4-5 different thumbnail concepts. Make sure your thumbnail concepts are different so that they stand out in different ways. Now that you have 4-5 thumbnail concepts pick your favourite two.

Now it's time to put your two favourite concepts on hyper-studio. Neatly trace out your concepts. Use lots of colour ,fonts and effects to make your logo better.

Finally you now have to pick your favourite, save it . You might want to find out different places or websites where you could use your personal logo, you could also put it on a t-shirt.

Overall I am Proud of how my logo turned out, I think it is very creative and I really enjoyed doing this task.

Cross Country

‘‘ Up next is the year eight girls”I hear Mr Jacobson say. I was so pumped....well that was before my toes reached the starting line, my hands started to shake, my heartbeat started to get faster and faster .

‘‘On your marks’’ I breathe in from my nose and out  through my mouth ‘‘Get set”    “ GO”!  Mr Burt claps the woods together BANG!!, so I start running and suddenly my confidence grew. I began to run fast.

As I ran I heard people cheering, they pushed me to try harder. When I was running I went pass three people. I was so tired but I kept on going trying my best no matter what. By the time I was at the finish-line I was so so tired I could probably drink out of a hole swimming pool.

Overall I am so proud of myself and I still can't believe that I ran 3K and came 1st place out of all of the year 8 girls at Point England school.

Words Travel Fast

For the past few weeks we have been learning about smart foot prints. This week we were learning about what you should put online and what you shouldn't put online. We also learnt that words can travel fast, you cloud post something online and someone across the world could be looking at it ,You never know when some one is watching. So make sure you cyber smart online.

Attitude talk

On Wednesday the 12th of august a guy named Dan came to our school, Dan was for from an organisation called attitude he talked to us about Friendship, the main subject was about attitude. Dan told us lot of things like what to do in situation were one of your friends is backstabbing you, he also told us how to be good friend. Dan gives good advise. Overall I really enjoyed having Dan the attitude man.

Managing Time

Last week on Thursday Mr Burt the principle of our school came to talk to us about technology in WW1 (world war one) . Mr Burt told us a little story about the British  and the Germans, the story was about how WW1 started, and the technology they used, it was also about how the British and the Germans invented things really quick because they thought that they were in danger. So they choose war.

In The end Mr Burt asked us a question The question was technology good or bad? I think that technology can be both because technology can be used for bad things as-well as good things. do you think technology is or bad?

Poly Fest Writing

On thursday the 19th of march the team 5 students at point england school got the opportunity to go to the poly fest in manukau. It was so cool because the team 5 students and I got to see the prime minister of New Zealand, JONKEY ! I can't believe john key was actually there.

My favorite part of the day was seeing all of the cool performances especially the maori kapa haka group.I had so much fun at the Polyfest and i'm hoping to go next year it was so much fun. Have you ever been to poly fest??

Poly-Fest

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!  

Every year young people and their families participate in this event to represent the culture and their school. Lots and lots of people go to the polyfest to see all the different pacific dances.

When people perform they wear lots of different things like makeup, bracelets,hair bands, and things that represent them and where they came from. The performers need to work hard to get all the thing they need.

Ploy-fest encourages younger people to show how they dance and what they wear, polyfest also encourages to know other peoples cultures as well.

I am looking forward to experience what other cultures do and what they wear, and how they dance and perform. I cant wait until polyfest its going to be so cool

on the first day of school

Walking to school with loads of excitement, I was wondering what class I was going to be in this year I was so excited i couldn't wait , luckily I was in room 2 with the beautiful Miss Clark.
